The long wait for Lee Min Ho's K-drama comeback will be over soon. The Heirs actor and Korean actress Kim Go Eun have finally started filming for their upcoming drama.

The cameras started rolling for The King: The Eternal Monarch on Thursday in one of the main set locations of the drama in North Chungcheong Province. Reports indicate that the set is a two-story house with a spacious backyard and a large gingko tree as well as the "Heroes Taekwondo Studio."

It is said to be the home of Kim Go Eun's character, detective Jung Tae Eul. The police detective could probably own the taekwondo studio.

The King: The Eternal Monarch is a fantasy drama about two parallel universes of a monarchy and a democracy. Lee Min Ho will play Emperor Lee Gon of the Empire of Korea.

Kim Go Eun, on the other hand, will portray two different roles. She will be detective Jung Tae Eu in the democratic world in the Republic of Korea and the criminal Luna in the Empire of Korea.

The clash of the two worlds could be one of the highlights in the upcoming TV series. Apparently, Emperor Lee Gon would be seeking help from modern-day detective Jung Tae Eul to close the door between the two worlds. The emperor's dire need to close this door could have something to do with criminal Luna in his world.

The anticipation for the upcoming SBS drama is high marks Min Ho's comeback in Korean TV drama after his discharge from military service in April. Suzy Bae's ex-boyfriend last appeared in the hit fantasy romance drama Legend of the Blue Sea alongside actress Jun Ji Hyun.

In Lee Min Ho's autumn/winter issue for L'Officiel Hommes YK Edition, the 32-year-old talked about his values at work. Despite being one of the A-list Hallyu actors today, the City Hunter actor revealed that he took lessons in horseback riding, pronunciation and vocalization, and a lot more in preparation for The King: The Eternal Monarch.

The SBS K-drama is also a reunion project for Min Ho and Go Eun with screenwriter Kim Eun Sook. Min Ho worked with the highly acclaimed writer in The Heirs while Go Eun and Kim worked together in Gong Yoo-led hit fantasy drama Goblin. Aside from The King: The Eternal Monarch, Goblin, and The Heirs, Kim Eun Sook is also the brain behind other hit K-dramas such as Descendants of the Sun and Mr. Sunshine.

The cast of The King: The Eternal Monarch had their script reading last month in Seoul. The K-drama is expected to premiere in the first half of 2020.
