Prince Charles is the heir to the throne, making him England’s future king. That being said, there’s a possibility that Camilla Parker Bowles will adopt a new title when the time comes.
Many are convinced that Prince Charles will make Camilla Parker Bowles his queen. However, a royal expert believes the Duchess of Cornwall should remain as a Princess Consort instead.
“At least one member of her family doesn’t want her to become Queen for fear of a backlash,” Penny Junor wrote in her 2017 book “The Duchess.” “I think it would be better for her if she became Princess Consort. I do so want her to be all right and I do worry that she won’t be. How is she going to be judged?”
The Buckingham Palace, previously, announced that when Prince Charles becomes king, Camilla Parker Bowles will be a princess consort. Royal biographer Christopher Wilson even pointed out that Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles’ marriage should have not been made official in the first place due to two statutes.
The Marriage Act of 1836 prohibits royals from marrying in register offices. However, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall had a civil rather than a church wedding in England, making it illegal. The other one is the 1949 Marriage Act.
“However, nothing short of a revolution can prevent Charles ascending the throne after his mother's death — but a legal challenge to the legitimacy of his marriage might put a stop to Camilla being crowned,” Christopher explained.
Meanwhile, all these talks about Camilla Parker Bowles's future title may not be discussed after all. Previous reports claim that Queen Elizabeth already gave up on Prince Charles and is focusing more on Prince William.
However, netizens came to Prince Charles’ defense and said that Queen Elizabeth can't have given up on her son. "Charles has disappointed his mother from time to time, but she has not neglected him in terms of his future job as King. Rather, she has spent decades helping to prepare him for the job. She hasn’t given up on her son. Not one bit,” one comment read.
Queen Elizabeth is the reigning monarch of England. At 93 years old, Her Majesty is not showing any signs of slowing down.
