The comments alluded to the opposite behavior of Prince Harry's wife, Meghan Markle. Recently, the royal couple has been besieged with controversy over their emotional documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, where they said that they are struggling with the negative side of royal life. The response to this coverage has been split.
Royal fans taking a side between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle is nothing new. As wives of popular brothers, one of whom is the second-in-line to the British throne, the comparisons are inevitable, especially since they are seen in public most of the time.
It's not just fans who pit the two duchesses against each other as the media often have popularity polls about the royals to determine the pulse of the public. More recently, Tatler has launched a national survey asking who is more popular and, so far, Kate was favored more than Meghan at 44 percent.
However, the survey also revealed that 55 percent of the British think Meghan has been good for the royal family. Yet 45 percent disagreed with the perception.
YouGov also ran a poll about the royals' popularity, where Kate also topped the survey than Meghan. About 64 percent said that they have positive feelings for the Duchess of Cambridge while 49 percent said that they like the Duchess of Sussex.
Duchess Kate may be more popular with the public than Duchess Meghan because she became part of the royal family several years earlier. She married Prince William in 2011 and dated the heir for a long time.
The comparison might have been further escalated when rumors of tension between the Cambridges and the Sussexes emerged early this year, resulting in the brothers becoming distant to each other. Prince Harry, recently, confirmed in the interview, that he and Prince William are on a different path and that they haven't been seeing much of each other. He also said that, like any other family, he and his big brother have good days and bad days.
