Unlike in the fairytales where princesses just sit there and look pretty, real-life royals have a lot of obligations. One of these duties is going out of the palace and attending a massive number of events.
Since joining the royal family in 2011, Kate Middleton has undertaken a lot of these engagements. While the Duchess of Cambridge always appeared to be genuinely happy to be a part of these events, she unintentionally revealed that she's always uncomfortable going to one certain occasion.
The royal family has attended multiple polo matches, which can be considered as a fun duty. However, it’s not as fun for Kate Middleton because she has an allergy to horses. Despite this, the Duchess of Cambridge still goes to these events like a real trooper.
But, instead of watching the game in the front row, Kate Middleton had to stay as far as possible, where she can watch while feeling safe at the same time. The Duchess of Cambridge didn’t really talk about her allergies, which is why Australian author Kathy Lette was curious why Prince William’s wife was at a small tent on the corner of the field and decided to ask her about it.
“Why don’t you come and join the rest of the party?”, Kathy Lette wondered, referring to a champagne reception taking place in a marquee next door. Kate Middleton seemed to not want to make her allergies as an excuse. So, she, reportedly, replied, “I’ve got to pay attention to every second. I’ll be discussing the game in minute detail later on.”
But, Kathy Lette was not contented with her answer. So, the author asked again, “You can’t be having much fun here, why don’t you play polo yourself?” This time, Kate Middleton was left with no choice but to finally reveal the truth and said, “I’m allergic to horses.”
After the revelation, it now makes a lot of sense why Kate Middleton has never been pictured horseback riding when the royal family is known for their love for horses. Although the Duchess of Cambridge was spotted in numerous events that include the odd-toed ungulate mammal, she was never seen near the animal at all.
What made the whole thing very impressive is the fact that Kate Middleton didn’t let her allergies get in the way for her to complete her royal duties. Even though the Duchess of Cambridge received a lot of criticisms claiming that she’s not doing enough, this proves that she is not one to skip an event despite her health issues.
