Riverdale Season 4 just aired its Halloween episode along with a chilling scene at the end. The fast forward scene featured Betty and FJ Jones looking over a dead body, supposedly of Jughead.
The storyline that Jughead (Cole Sprouse) could be dead in Season 4 started in the finale of the previous installment. Fans may recall that in Season 3 finale, Betty (Lili Reinhart), Veronica (Camila Mendes), and Archie (KJ Apa) are seen drenched in blood while in the woods and standing over a bonfire. Jughead is MIA in the shot.
Instead, shocked Archie is holding Jughead's beanie. Betty told them that they have to burn all their clothes as well as Jughead's beanie. The scene sparked more fan debates over what Betty told her friends. She told them that the only way that they will never get caught is if they will not speak about the events of that night to anyone and they will finish their senior year like nothing happen.
The question now is, is the body that Betty and FJ Jones (Skeet Ulrich) were asked to identify at the coroner's office is Jughead's? Is he really dead? Is Sprouse leaving Riverdale?
Fans of The CW series took to Twitter to share their opinions and theories about the recent Riverdale Season 4 Episode 4. Many refuse to accept that Archie's BFF is dead. Instead, some offer theories on where the story could be heading.
One believes that it's a fake Jug's dead body. The fan said Betty looks unbothered by what she saw at the coroner's office. The fan speculates that Betty could have helped her boyfriend fake his death, possibly for another mystery or crime that the Fab Four is trying to solve.
Some also speculate that Jug's faking his death has something to do with the students who were gone missing at his current school, the Stonewall. As Jug looks deeper into the missing students' case, he perhaps found out who the killer is. Fearing for his loved one safety, he was forced to pretend dead.
Whatever Jug's fate in Riverdale Season 4, it may not be revealed anytime soon or at least in Episode 5 and 6. In the upcoming Episode 5, Jug will learn surprising information about his family while in Episode 6, he will uncover a mystery surrounding the author of the Baxter Brothers books.
Episode 7, on the other hand, will feature his quest to find clues about the recent death on campus and possibly on the missing students too with the help of Betty. Riverdale Season 4 airs at 8/7c on The CW.
