Kate Middleton and Prince William are not the kind of couple who hold hands or touch each other's arms or shoulders when they are in public. This doesn't mean, however, that they are not affectionate as husband and wife because this Cambridge couple often give each other affectionate glances.

One such look was caught in a photo posted on Twitter. Prince William and Kate Middleton exchanged knowing glances at each other while they were holding umbrellas and walking under a rain shower.

The duchess had a big smile on her face while Prince William was also laughing along with his wife. The couple gave out such a happy vibe that royal fans could not help but say this image of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge looks so cute.

According to royal expert, Myka Meier, there is no official palace rule that bars Prince William and Kate Middleton from showing their affection for each other in public. They won't be violating or breaching protocol if they become touchy-feely among a crowd of people. However, it's not usual to hardly see public displays of love from the Cambridge couple because they are technically working and representing the British monarchy when they are seen at royal events.

Meier said that it's likely Prince William and Kate Middleton want to maintain their professionalism even if they are seen as a pair. Royal expert Judy Wade also agreed that it would look inappropriate if Kate Middleton, suddenly, holds the hands of her husband while in a straight-laced event, such as a state funeral or an official appearance with Queen Elizabeth.

However, when the right moment calls for it, the Cambridges do embrace, hold hands, or rest their arms in each other's shoulders in public. For instance, they let their hair down when watching a sports game. In fact, Prince William and Kate Middleton were photographed happily hugging each other at the bleachers during the London Summer Olympics.

Prince William and Kate Middleton also playfully held on to each other while playing a game of soccer in a field in Northern Ireland. They were subtly holding hands during the wedding of Prince William's cousin, Princess Eugenie, as well.

Royal fans often compare Kate Middleton and Prince William's actions in public with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who are also seen showing their affection public. However, the royal experts said that even the Sussex couple do not hold hands in public if the occasion is solemn or formal.
