In the recently aired episode of NCIS: New Orleans season 6, many viewers were shocked as one of the major characters was killed off unexpectedly. In episode 6, titled "Matthew 5:9," Lucas Black's character, Christopher Lasalle, bids farewell to the series. He was pronounced dead following a shocking shootout while trying to get justice for his brother, Cade.

Ever since NCIS: New Orleans season 6 premiered, Lasalle has been trying to figure out what happened to his brother and why he disappeared. He went to Alabama to uncover mysteries but, then, he met his own demise later on. There were already speculations about the character's death after Black, previously, shared on his social media how honored he was playing Lasalle.

Lasalle was shot at the hospital and, despite the hospital staff's effort to save him, nothing seemed to work. In the end, the character was pronounced dead, and most fans were shocked as the series killed off one of the main characters. After the sixth episode of NCIS: New Orleans season 6 aired, Black shared a video on Instagram, where he personally thanked his fans for the love and support.

Black's character was one of the original cast members of the series -- starting way back during the backdoor pilot. Lasalle has been an important part of the story and his death made many viewers sad as they always see the character for six seasons. But, as per CarterMatt, a new face may probably join the series and will possibly replace Lasalle's role.

Meanwhile, the reason why Black exits in NCIS: New Orleans season 6 is because he wants to have more time with the people who are close to him. Showrunners Christopher Silber and Jan Nash said in a statement that they had an amazing run with the actor and he's been an important part of the series. While they're sad to see him go, they're also happy to see him spending more time with his family.

In another report, the next episode of NCIS: New Orleans season 6 will feature the aftermath of Lasalle's death, but it will also focus on another case. After a natural gas explosion at a movie theater, the team finds out that the gas company was hacked and more explosions could be triggered. This is another big problem for the team, which comes with a lot of drama from beginning to end.

NCIS: New Orleans season 6 airs every Tuesday on CBS.
