Meghan Markle is constantly being criticized after she tied the knot with Prince Harry last year. But, the bashing became even more intense when she shared about her struggles with life in the spotlight as people saw it as complaining and her being spoiled.
Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend seemingly confirmed Meghan Markle’s revelation in the ITV documentary as she also spoke about her troubles over the same pressure of royal life. Chelsy Davy shared that she ended her relationship with the Duke of Sussex because she “couldn’t cope” with living under the microscope.
Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy had an on-and-off-again romance from 2013 to 2010. We all now know that the pair didn’t end up together, but they certainly still share a good friendship as she was even a guest at his wedding with Meghan Markle in May 2018.
While they were dating, Chelsy Davy felt the same struggles that Meghan Markle is facing right now. In 2016, Prince Harry’s ex revealed the reason why she called off her romance with the Duke of Sussex.
“It was so full-on: crazy and scary and uncomfortable. I found it very difficult when it was bad. I couldn't cope,” she said. "I was trying to be a normal kid and it was horrible. It was nuts. That's also why I wanted to go back to Africa. Now it's calm, it's fine.“
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle just couldn’t catch a break from her critics. Ever since she got married to Prince Harry, she has been bombarded with criticisms even over some little things. In fact, her former agent Gina Nelthorpe-Cowne, recently, shared that she tried to talk to the former actress regarding her privacy if she became a member of the royal family.
“I said, ‘This is serious. This is the end of your normal life, the end of your privacy – everything.’” she said. “But she just held up her hand and said: ‘Stop. I don’t want to hear any negativity. This is a happy time for us.’”
During an interview with Tom Bradby, the anchor asked Meghan Markle about the impact of public scrutiny on her. The Duchess of Sussex, then, replied, “thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if I'm OK. But it's a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”
Although Meghan Markle said some valid points, a lot of netizens were not impressed at all. Instead of receiving some sympathy, she was bashed even more for it.
