Queen Elizabeth and a couple of the royal family members paid their respect for those who died in the line of duty at the somber ceremony of Remembrance Sunday in Whitehall. Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle took part in the event as well.
While their presence was highly appreciated, people were wondering why Meghan Markle was so far away from Queen Elizabeth and Kate Middleton. Her Majesty, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duchess of Sussex stood on the same balcony of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office building while Prince Harry’s wife was standing next to Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, Princess Anne's husband, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
With all the controversies surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, it is quite easy to conclude that the Duchess of Sussex was not at the balcony with Queen Elizabeth and Kate Middleton because Her Majesty is not too pleased with the couple. However, managing editor of Majesty Magazine, Joe Little, explained that it was nothing personal at all.
“She was not as prominent perhaps as some people might have expected, but there’s a pecking order,” he said. “There was no slight intended, but William being the older, more senior brother would go out [first] with his wife.”
The size of the balcony should also be taken into consideration as it would not fit all the royals there. Experts said that Meghan Markle not being included in the balcony with Queen Elizabeth, Camilla, and Kate Middleton had nothing to do with her and Prince Harry’s explosive interviews in the ITV documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, but merely because of royal protocol.
Speaking to Tom Bradby, Prince Harry seemingly confirmed all the speculations that he and Prince William are feuding. The Duke of Sussex shared that he and his older brother are “on a different path” at the moment, but adding that he knows that they will always support and love each other no matter what.
Despite earlier claims that Prince William and Kate Middleton are enjoying the fact that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are being constantly bashed, a US Weekly source revealed that the Duchess of Cambridge is “genuinely concerned” for the Sussexes. The insider claimed that the mother-of-three “hates to see” Meghan and Harry “so miserable.”
The tipster then added that “while Kate’s concerned about Harry and Meghan’s well-being, she tries to stay out of the drama. [She] hopes William and Harry will eventually heal the rift and let bygones be bygones.”
