IU surprised her fans with a double treat after she released two videos for her upcoming mini-album Love Poem. In the MV for Blueming, IU showed how fitting the color blue suited her. In Above the Time, she showcased her ethereal beauty in a fantasy concept.
According to a report by All Kpop, IU showed her cute side in the upbeat pop song Blueming, where the setting was dominated by different shades of blue. In the video, IU seemed to be waiting for a message from someone, doing her best to entertain herself in her quirky apartment as she prepared to get out of her sanctuary.
On Nov. 17, IU released the much-anticipated MV for Above the Time, the sequel to her 2011 hit, You & I. Fans were happy to see IU and actor Lee Hyun Woo reprise their roles in the sequel song.
However, this time around, it was Hyun Woo who was waiting for IU to come out of the fantasy world. It can be recalled that You & I had a fairy tale-like concept wherein IU was waiting for Lee Hyun Woo's character to come out of slumber. In the 2019 sequel, it was Hyun Woo who was trying to free his lover from an alternate world.
IU earlier hinted that she wanted to make a sequel for You & I for a long time because she wanted a definitive ending to the story of Hyun Joo and her character. However, with Above the Time, it seemed like fans would have to wait for a third installment to get the happy ending they want for the two characters.
Fans have been leaving a lot of positive comments on the YouTube thread and said that Above the Time was a fitting sequel to You & I. They said that the familiar elements like a clock, the train, the goose, and the drawing on the wrists of IU and Hyun Woo made them very sentimental about the song's history.
A lot of comments said that while they did not fully understand the lyrics because it was in Korean, IU's voice was enough for them to be moved by the song.
Hyun Woo recently completed his mandatory military service, making his return the perfect timing to film Above the Time with IU. Surprisingly, both actors looked almost the same as when they filmed the original MV, which led some fans to wonder whether the two celebrities knew the secret to the fountain of youth.
