Robert Blackburn, the author of the 2006 book, King and Country: Monarchy and the Future King Charles III, stated in his published work that the prince's strong political views are one of the factors that could endanger his position, as well as the monarchy as a whole. This is because monarchs should be "neutral" in terms of politics, just like what Queen Elizabeth II has maintained for the last six decades.
Unlike his mother, Prince Charles almost always expresses his views on various political matters. Because of this, his "constitutional legitimacy" to become the next king has "evoked" controversies and serious questions whether he is fit to rule.
The publication also noted the late Paul Flynn's words during his time as a Labour backbencher. Based on claims, he stated that the Prince of Wales' actions are "suicidal," as he may cause the collapse of the monarchy in the future.
It was explained as well that the only reason why Queen Elizabeth II has been successful is that she maintained her neutrality over political matters. Monarchy should be "above politics," and it is the only way for it to "continue to survive," Paul Flynn added.
As explained, if Prince Charles finds it "irresistible to interfere" with politics and other things that the monarch should avoid, then he, as the king, together with the monarchy, will certainly collapse."
Aside from his strong political views, many royal experts and fans also question Prince Charles' overall ability to rule as the king.
