Prince Charles and Princess Diana's failed marriage has been believed to be the result of the Prince of Wales' actions. His confirmed affair with Camilla Parker-Bowles has been seen as the ultimate reason for their separation and eventual divorce. However, many royal experts and authors today deemed otherwise.
According to Cheat Sheet, Prince Charles' affair with the now-Duchess of Cornwall was not the only reason why Princess Diana was "unstable." As it happened, sources claimed that her "instability" and "emotional turmoil" existed long before her marriage to the Heir Apparent.
Many royal experts and analysts agree that the Princess of Wales had a lot of issues internally, and the ones that affected her the most were the issues revolving around her family, especially her parents.
Based on assertions, Princess Diana's parents expected a son rather than having a daughter. So, upon her arrival to the Spencer clan, there was a sense of feeling "unaccepted" by her family from the start.
While she already had issues with herself from the beginning, her relationship with Prince Charles further worsened her problems and heartaches. It was said that the former couple was never compatible. They were a "mismatch," one royal expert commented.
There was an age gap between the two royals. When they got married in 1981, the late princess was only 20, which was far too young for the 32-year-old prince.
