Robert Pattison did feel frustrated with his career his Harry Potter stint and before his fame in the Twilight franchise. The next Batman actor revealed that there was a time that he almost quit acting after his awful audition for the big screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's novels.

In a recent podcast edition of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association In Conversation, Pattinson opened up about the ups and downs of his career. The 33-year-old actor revealed that his confidence in acting took a deep dive after he auditioned for a role in Twilight

Pattinson recalled his audition as disastrous. The actor revealed that he bought a guitar for his audition as per the instruction of his agent. It quickly turned as his worst decision he ever made in his life after the audition panel asked him to play the guitar.

"I just walked in and they were like, 'Oh. You brought a guitar. Do you want to play us a song,' and I was like, 'No. This is the worst decision I ever made'... They were like, 'You just brought a guitar into just to hold it? Why did you bring a guitar in?' My confidence just s**t the bed," Pattinson recalled.

The Remember Me actor confessed that as soon as he came out of the room, he called his parents and told them that he is done with acting. However, despite his frustrating audition, he still landed a major role in Twilight and that is Bella Swan's (Kristen Stewart) love interest, Edward Cullen.

The character made Robert Pattinson a household name. He and Stewart starred in all five installments of the highly-successful franchise that ran from 2008 to 2012.

The actor also recalled the time he portrayed Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in 2005. The Water for Elephants actor said he had an amazing experience working in a "very friendly" environment and all the kids he worked with treated him nicely.

Pattinson is about to embark on a new chapter of his career, not as a heartthrob vampire or wizard, but as a DC superhero. He was recently chosen to play Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Batman, in the upcoming Matt Reeves' movie, The Batman.

The new Batman actor announcement received mixed reactions from fans. Pattinson, however, said he is not affected by the people who doubt his ability.

Joining Pattinson in the movie is Big Little Lies actress Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Andy Serkis as Bruce Wayne's butler Alfred Pennyworth. 12 Years a Slave actor Paul Dano will be taking the role of the villain, The Riddler. The first in The Batman trilogy is scheduled for release on June 25, 2021.

Meanwhile, Pattinson will also star in the upcoming Christopher Nolan action movie, Tenet. The movie is set to hit cinemas in July 2020.
