Meghan Markle just couldn’t catch a break from her critics. The Duchess of Sussex is not even exempted from receiving a backlash from her own family.
A new report claims that Meghan Markle’s uncle, Mike Markle, who is the older brother of her dad, accused Prince Harry’s wife of being immature after her fall-out with her sister-in-law. He claimed that after the Duchess of Sussex married Prince Harry in 2018, she had left her family behind.
“It could be that that’s part of the problem she’s having with her sister-in-law,” he said. “Meghan is immature in some ways. I feel that because of the way she acts — not only towards family members but other people.”
After learning about her uncle’s comment, Meghan Markle’s fans took to Twitter to share their outrage. “Meghan get your uncle some help please,” one wrote. “We all have a ‘crazy uncle.’ We don't have to agree to love someone,” another one said. “Meghan, what is he doing? And why? This is bizarre - if he were my virtual uncle, I’d be heartbroken by his behavior,” a fan shared.
While most were upset with what the uncle said about Meghan Markle, some defended the Duchess of Sussex by agreeing with her decision to turn her back on her family. “She has moved on from that family to create her own family. It’s not where you start in life, but where you end up,” one posted.
It’s no secret that Meghan Markle doesn’t have a good relationship with her family. The Duchess of Sussex seemingly confirmed speculations that she was feuding with part of her father’s family when she excluded them from her and Prince Harry’s wedding last year.
Meghan Markle’s half-sister Samantha even attempted to write a tell-all book about the Duchess of Sussex. However, she received a lot of ”threats and harassment" to keep her from publishing it.
"I started getting threats, and people would send and tweet photographs of me being viewed through a high-powered scope behind broken glass with my face in targets,” she said. "If that’s not obvious symbolism I don’t know what is. It was all with the intent to intimidate, keep me in fear, preventing me from releasing my book – you can’t do that to people.”
