Prince Andrew officially retires from his royal duties after a scandalous interview with BBC Newsnight. Many believed that the Duke of York decided to step away from his royal life to save the royal family from more embarrassment with his link to Jeffrey Epstein's scandal.
However, Prince Andrew’s decision is not only going to affect him. A royal expert claims that the Duke of York’s resignation will have an impact on Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle as well.
With one royal family member out, the royal fab four will be facing more workload. “Andrew will be banned from all of these events. So, you know, you might see William, Kate, Harry and Meghan involved in this,” Daily Mirror’s royal editor Russell Myers said in the podcast Pod Save the Queen. “They will be lumbered with a lot more work, you’d imagine. He was a patron of 230-odd charities, it is an awful lot.”
This is not going to be the first time that Prince William and Prince Harry will be adding more to the royal duties. When Prince Philip retired in 2017, the royal brothers took on some of their grandfather’s roles. Also, when the Duke of Cambridge resigned from his job as an Air Ambulance pilot in that same year, he took more senior royal roles as well.
Meanwhile, when news broke about Jeffrey Epstein’s scandal, all eyes were on Prince Andrew, knowing that he had close ties with the billionaire. Although the financier and accused sex trafficker took his own life in August, the investigation didn’t end with his death.
Authorities are still trying to identify more of his victims and Prince Andrew’s link to Jeffrey Epstein’s scandal. “The US investigation is focusing on several potential victims in the hope that they can provide more details about Prince Andrew and his connection to the Epstein case,” a source from the Department of Justice, which oversees the FBI, told the Times.
Prince Andrew had denied the claims multiple times, stating that he was not involved in Jeffrey Epstein’s scandal. He also noted that he had no idea that Epstein was abusing women. However, the FBI needs to investigate everyone linked to the case and, unfortunately, for the prince, the victim mentioned his name.
One of the most shocking speculations in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal is that many claimed the billionaire is not even dead at all. A lot of people believed that his death was faked and that a high and powerful person, presumably Prince Andrew and even Bill and Hillary Clinton, helped him get away with it.
