Suga is certainly one of the less talkative members of BTS. But just because he doesn’t say much, does not mean that he wouldn’t share some words of wisdom to ARMYs.
In his latest live broadcast, Suga talked about general struggles and how to beat it. He started by explaining how we all experience that moment when we feel like things are just not going our way or how we expect them to happen.
“There comes a time for everyone when nothing is changing,” Suga said. “After a while, it picks up like this… then the phase comes back. Once you get through that, it goes back up… So that downtime in life happens to all of us. I doubt there is anyone who has never experienced that slump.”
Instead of saying those usual inspirational lines like “you can do it,” “believe in yourself,” and more, he shared a rather unique and practical way to escape that slump feeling.
“I know how hard it is to break out of a slump,” Suga told the fans. “But I know of the best way to snap out of it. How? You just keep at it. Don’t think about it. Just keep doing what you’re supposed to be doing, without giving it any other thought.”
While that sounded confusing to some, Suga’s main point was that unshaken diligence would soon pay off. The BTS star sees it this way: if you pursue whatever you wanted to pursue without letting yourself get affected along the way, you will successfully pass that slump stage.
“And you’ll realize at one point that you’ve naturally broken out of the slump. Trust me,” Suga assured ARMYs. “And I know people act like there are some magical, special ways to fix this ‘slump’ thing. There isn’t. The only way to escape that feeling is to ride it out.”
With Suga’s success as a member of BTS and a solo artist, it’s safe to say that his solution is very effective. As the 26-year-old rapper, songwriter, and record producer was basing his advice on his own experiences.
“You don’t even have to feel bad about yourself because you don’t seem to improve during that sluggish time… because if you keep going anyway, at one point, you will reach a new level,” he shared. “That’s exactly what happened to me too.”
