Earlier this week, Donald Trump and Melania Trump welcomed the Guatemalan President, Jimmy Morales and his wife, Patricia Marroquin at the White House. As reported, the visit to the White House was monumental.
According to official statements, the Guatemalan leader's visit was an "opportunity" to thank him for his cooperation with the U.S. President. This came after they signed the "historic" Asylum Cooperation Agreement. As noted, Jimmy Morales is the first Central American leader to sign and implement the said agreement.
While the event was truly historic and monumental, there was another incident that made the whole moment much more news-worthy as per netizens. As it happened, Donald Trump and Melania Trump held each other's hands excluding all the usual "awkwardness" between the First Couple.
In a scoop made by Hive, the couple was seen with their smiling faces upon stepping outside to welcome Jimmy Morales and Patricia Marroquin. Aside from their joyful and excited looks, the way the held on to each other's palms was eye-catching as it did not cause any tension or uncomfortable vibe within the venue.
Unfortunately, this was quite new in the eyes of the public. The reason being is that, in the past, there were a lot of times when Donald Trump and Melania Trump were caught in an awkward moment as they tried to hold hands but, failed to do so.
One of the most iconic of these incidents was captured and featured by Vogue last year when the U.S. President, along with the First Lady welcomed the French President, Emmanual Macron in the White House.
During the "photo-op," Donald Trump tried to tap Melania Trump's hand as a signal that they should hold each other's hands. However, it took him four to five times of tapping using his hands and fingers just to get his wife's attention.
While Melania reached her hand out to fulfill the president's wishes, it was criticized and bashed by several individuals all over the internet. Many netizens even deemed it a very "embarrassing situation" for the U.S. President.
Accordingly, this is why many were quite surprised that the First Couple was able to hold hands recently during a public event without having any awkward moments.
