Prince Philip was admitted at King Edward VIII Hospital to undergo treatment for a pre-existing condition. To ensure his recovery, Queen Elizabeth’s husband has to stay in the hospital for a few days.

Although he understands the whole health concern situation, Prince Philip has one wish at the time — and that is to go home and spend Christmas with his family. Now, new reports confirmed that the Duke of Edinburgh was finally released from the hospital in time to spend Christmas with Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family.

Prince Philip stayed in the hospital for four nights, and he was finally cleared to go home on December 24. He left King Edward VII's hospital in central London at 8.49 am and was driven to Buckingham Palace and flown by helicopter to Sandringham in Norfolk.

A lot of royal fans have been worried about Prince Philip’s health since he is already 98 years old and is visibly weaker. But many were relieved and happy after seeing Queen Elizabeth’s husband walking out of the hospital on his own without major assistance. Prince Philip then smiled and waved to the medical staff, and even shook the hand of the nurse who accompanied him to his car.

A spokesman for Buckingham Palace said that “The Duke of Edinburgh has today left hospital after being discharged by his Doctor and is now back at Sandringham. His Royal Highness would like to thank everyone who sent their good wishes. Speaking about his father to reporters as he visited the flood-hit village of Fishlake yesterday afternoon, Prince Charles said: 'He's being looked after very well in hospital. At the moment that's all we know.'”

Meanwhile, Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth’s age is the main reason why a lot of royal fans are upset with Prince Harry for choosing to spend the Christmas festivities in the U.S. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to take a six-week break after their ITV documentary was released back in October.

This will be the first time that Prince Harry will be away from the royal family during the Christmas season. With that said, royal fans are not very happy that he chose to spend the holidays with Meghan Markle’s family considering his grandparents’ old age.

However, a Buckingham Palace spokesman said that the Queen supported Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision. Despite Her Majesty’s approval, royal fans expected more from the Duke of Sussex. They feel like he should cherish his time with his grandparents more because they are now in their 90s.
