It has been weeks already since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry flew from the United Kingdom to the United States to celebrate Thanksgiving Day with the duchess' mother, Doria Ragland. It was also revealed that their flight out of London was the start of their six-week off from royal duties.
While these details were previously revealed to the public, it was not disclosed then where the family will celebrate their Christmas Day. But, prior to the celebration, the palace released an official statement announcing that the Sussex household will fly to Canada where they will spend the rest of the year.
According to Express UK, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decided to celebrate the festivities in Canada where the duchess lived for seven years before her engagement in 2017. It was noted that the former actress moved to Toronto because of her role as Rachel in USA Network's legal drama series, Suits.
The last time that the duchess was seen in the country was in 2017 during the Invictus Games. She was also photographed with her then-boyfriend, the Duke of Sussex. Since then, Meghan moved out of Toronto and stayed with the royal in London.
For two years straight, Meghan Markle has been celebrating her Christmas Day with Prince Harry, along with the rest of the royal family. In fact, she was even revealed as the first non-royal girlfriend to attend the annual festivities and traditions in Sandringham with Queen Elizabeth II.
Accordingly, it is not entirely surprising why she decided to spend this year's holiday season back to her previous homes both in the United States and Canada.
Upon disclosing the Sussex couple's plans for Christmas, various social media platforms were stormed off with surprising posts from fans and supporters. As it happened, Canada's Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau shared a warm message for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry regarding their stay in the country for the holiday season.
As per Harper's Bazaar, the Canadian leader acknowledged the Sussex couple, along with the 7-month-old "Archie," and wished them a "quiet and blessed" stay in the country. He also noted that the family is "among friends" who are always "welcome."
As added by the publication, Justin Trudeau recently flew to the United Kingdom where he met with the senior members of the royal family inside Buckingham Palace. He attended the NATO Reception in early December where he was also seen conversing with Kate Middleton and other royals during the event.
