The Royal family may have exclusive titles in their names, but they do things like other regular families do — like sharing pieces of jewelry. Daughters would usually borrow some earrings, bracelets, and necklaces from their moms when they’re going to an important occasion. This is no different in the royal household.

In fact, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have been spotted wearing some precious stones from Queen Elizabeth’s jewelry collection in certain events and outings. But a new report claims that the Duchess of Sussex may not be a fan of Her Majesty’s gems as she was only seen wearing it once.

“With statement pieces often borrowed from the Royal collection, Kate loves to wear sets that match as well as adding in colored stones that make a statement. Kate’s choice is more traditional and in keeping with Royal traditional styling,” stylist Charlotte Balbier said. “Meghan is almost the complete opposite opting for fine pieces often delicate and small, almost smaller the better. Petite bangles and small earrings are Meghan’s signature look. Less is more.”

Meanwhile, Kate Middleton still continuously borrows from Queen Elizabeth’s jewelry collection. The possible reason behind this is that the Duchess of Cambridge may like the designs.

“Kate gets the pick of the jewels for big occasions and the Queen is happy to open up her jewelry box,” a source said. “Kate has been clever to befriend Angela Kelly, who is in charge of the Queen’s personal jewelry collection and oversees the loans. Generally, Kate is allowed to borrow whatever she fancies.”

Rumor has it that Queen Elizabeth assured Prince William that Princess Diana’s accessories will only be worn by his wife. This sparked speculations that Prince Harry’s wife is banned from borrowing them.

“This is a surprising situation that has been going on behind the scenes over the past few months and has caused tension and upset, especially for Harry,” an insider shared. “It is at the discretion of the Queen and trusted advisers which items in the Royal Collection she chooses to loan out and to whom.”

Although there is no solid proof to confirm that Meghan Markle is banned from borrowing some items from Queen Elizabeth’s jewelry collection, many believe that the Duchess of Sussex doesn’t seem to have the same privilege as Kate Middleton. However, there is still the possibility that Meghan may have not worn pieces from Her Majesty' collection simply because the designs don’t suit her taste.
