Jungkook, recently, received a lot of backlashes after he allegedly mocked Han Ye Seul’s bold fashion statement. The actress was wearing a nose ring during the 2020 Golden Disc Awards, and the BTS star was then caught looking at his members while putting his index finger and thumb to each of his nostrils.
After seeing this gesture, many claimed that Jungkook was disrespecting Han Ye Seul. Some are so upset that they believe that the BTS star should apologize to the actress.
“Even if the piercing looked weird, it’s respectful to not make a gesture at a public place,” one wrote. “He needs to apologize to her,” another one shared. “Making gestures like that while fully knowing everything he does will be seen and talked about during an event like that is careless regardless of his intentions,” one netizen commented.
However, some defended Jungkook, saying that it wasn’t his intention to mock Han Ye Seul at all. Full-fledged ARMYs know that the BTS star is sometimes too real and innocent for the K-pop world.
While most celebrities are very aware that all eyes are on them, Jungkook most of the time forgets that he’s a superstar and that he’s being photographed or filmed. The BTS star is so used to be with just RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V, and Jimin 24/7 that he felt like he was just talking to them in their dorm even if he was in an award show, red carpet, live broadcasts, and more.
With that said, Jungkook was just probably sharing what he noticed. After seeing Han Ye Seul with a nose ring, the BTS star may have just wanted to tell the rest of his members about it. Since the venue was very loud, Jungkook knew that RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V, and Jimin wouldn’t hear him so he did the gesture instead.
ARMYs then pointed out that the golden maknae clapped for the actress, before and after he saw the nose ring. If he was mocking the actress, he would have been caught laughing at her.
“I mean, seriously, what do you mean he mocked her?? This is the full video and he clapped when she appeared, talked to his members about her nose ring, and continued to clap afterward, so where’s the mockery??? Wow, this is crazy,” one fan noted. “Even I was surprised by her nose piercing, and I made a similar gesture to a friend while talking about how beautiful she looked... I’m sure many people did it too because it’s unique. So we all need to be beaten up, why are they only attacking Jungkook. Mom, I’m apparently guilty of mockery!! The important thing is that even Han Ye Seul doesn’t care about it so why are you going crazy over it,” another one commented.
