Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, recently, announced that they will be stepping back from their current roles as senior royals. But, since they are part of the royal family, their decision is not only going to affect them but the rest of the members as well.

With that said, Prince Harry’s withdrawal may affect Princess Beatrice’s wedding and could put the bride-to-be in a difficult position. While there is no confirmation yet, the Duke of Sussex’s decision may lead him to lose his right to the throne. His son Archie would also likely lose his place.

Prince Harry is sixth in the line of succession to the British throne and Archie is seventh. Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are, currently, 9th and 10th in the line and are not part of the senior royals. However, the princesses’ place could bump up after the Duke of Sussex’s withdrawal.

If that is the case, then Princess Beatrice will be sixth in line to the throne, making her a senior royal. So how will this affect the Princess of York’s wedding?

When Princess Beatrice got engaged to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, she was not part of the senior royal back then, therefore she didn’t have to ask for Queen Elizabeth’s permission to marry him. But, if the line of succession will be changed as a result of Prince Harry’s recent withdrawal, then the Princess of York will have to follow royal protocol and ask for Her Majesty’s approval before marrying the British property developer.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time that a royal’s withdrawal affected Princess Beatrice's wedding. Late last year, her father, Prince Andrew, announced that he would be stepping away from his royal duties following a scandalous interview with BBC Newsnight. The Duke of York’s name was dragged into Jeffrey Epstein’s scandal, and many believed the main reason behind his decision was to save the royal family from more embarrassment.

It seemed that the whole fiasco surrounding Prince Andrew affected Princess Beatrice’s engagement party. The special gathering that the bride-to-be planned was supposed to be held on Dec. 18 but it was, reportedly, canceled. The reason behind the engagement party not being pursued was to reportedly avoid photographers from taking snaps of Prince Andrew.

There are no new details about Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s upcoming nuptials as of this writing. The venue and date are still unknown. The only thing that is confirmed is that they are getting married this year.
