BTS is known for leaving hints, clues, and references in their music videos, live performances, broadcasts, etc. In fact, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook left major spoilers for their comeback at 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) performance, and nobody even noticed it.
On December 24, Big Hit Entertainment shared a new visual for BTS’ upcoming tour on its official Twitter account. The label teased: "April 2020. Stay tuned."
The tour announcement photo featured a water reflection of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. However, there wasn't much information to go on at the time. What ARMYs didn’t know is that BTS was already dropping hints for their comeback even before the tour announcement was made.
We now know that BTS’ new album is called MAP OF THE SOUL: 7. On January 9, Big Hit Entertainment shared the comeback map, which featured all the phases that will happen from January 10 to February 28.
BTS kicked off their new era with “Interlude: Shadow” comeback trailer featuring Suga. ARMYs then realized that the shadow concept might have a connection with BTS 2019 webtoon Save Me.
One of the panels shows all the members and their shadow selves. In the middle, the caption read: “Once again, just like before…” What made this panel interesting is the fact that their shadow selves look eerily similar to the tour teaser that Big Hit Entertainment dropped a month ago. (Check it out here).
Also, when BTS performed at 2019 MAMA on December 4, 20 days before the label tweeted the tour, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook already dropped mind-blowing hints that are only making sense today.
In the 35-second mark of their 2019 MAMA performance, the screens showed nothing but shadows of the BTS boys. On January 10, BTS dropped its first comeback trailer called “Interlude: Shadow.”
The 55-second mark then revealed the line: “Future meets past.” If this line seemed familiar, that's because it was already mentioned earlier. (Hint: “Once again, just like before…”)
RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook then set the fandom on fire when they chose to perform their old songs “N.O” and “We Are Bulletproof Pt.2” in 2019 MAMA. RM’s “Intro: Persona” and Suga’s “Interlude: Shadow” trailers have been dropping hints at the “going back to the beginning” concept.
If this is the case, then BTS’ MAP OF THE SOUL: 7 is going to be a reminder of how it all started. So does this mean that rapper Jungkook will make a comeback as well? He did rap in their 2019 Mama performance, so nothing is impossible.
