When Princess Beatrice announced that she will be marrying property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in 2020, a lot of royal fans were very excited about the upcoming nuptials. However, the announcement was made back in September, where things were a lot different from the recent months.
Two months after the announcement, Princess Beatrice’s father Prince Andrew withdrew from royal life for “the foreseeable future” following a scandalous interview with BBC Newsnight, where his alleged involvement to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s scandal was discussed. Then, recently, Bea’s cousin Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle announced that they will be stepping back from being senior royals.
With a lot of things going on in the royal family, Princess Beatrice is, allegedly, wishing to have a scaled-down wedding instead. Royal weddings are extremely lavish, but it seems like that’s not going to happen this time around.
“I think they’re going to have to rethink the arrangements for Beatrice’s wedding,” royal correspondent Jennie Bond said. “She’s marrying a man called Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and I think they were planning something along the lines of Eugenie’s wedding. There were outcries over security costs for the taxpayer and I don’t think they’ll want a similar embarrassment for Beatrice so I imagine that will be scaled down somewhat.”
It was, previously, reported that Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s nuptials will not be covered by BBC. The British public service broadcaster said that it will not show extended live footage of the wedding, but will only offer “news coverage of the wedding across our services” instead.
ITV, which covered Princess Beatrice’s sister Princess Eugenie’s wedding with Jack Brooksbank in 2018, has not confirmed if it will be covering the upcoming royal nuptials. “We can’t comment any further on the situation surrounding Beatrice coverage until our teams are fully back in place next week,” an ITV spokeswoman said.
So, why are the BBC and ITV — and possibly other broadcasting companies — are not as eager to cover Princess Beatrice’s wedding like the other royal weddings? There is a high chance that Prince Andrew’s interview with BBC Newsnight may have impacted the decision making.
Now, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s is facing another Royal family problem after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's withdrawal from being senior royals.
