G-Dragon is someone who needs no introduction. The BIGBANG star has been in the entertainment industry since he was six years old. Now, he is one of the most, if not the most, popular faces in the K-pop world. With that said, both rookie and experienced idols look up to G-Dragon. And one of those idols is DinDin.
On the January 7 episode of MBC every1’s Video Star, stars who were born in the year of the rat were guests on the show: Sean, Se7en, Solbi, DinDin, and LANA. There, they discussed their wishes, and DinDin said that he wished to be like G-Dragon. However, he has a unique way of showing his admiration for the BIGBANG leader.
“I avoided meeting him,” he revealed. “You don’t want to meet them if you like them so much. I want him to forever remain as my star. He appears in my dreams these days.”
Just like most K-pop idols, DinDin is a massive fan of G-Dragon and had shared his admiration for him multiple times. The Video Star hosts then gave Sean, Se7en, Solbi, DinDin, and LANA gifts according to their wishes. And since they can’t magically turn DinDin into G-Dragon, they gave him the next best thing.
Sandara Park surprised DinDin with a call from G-Dragon. The avid fan and the idol had a fun exchange over the phone, and the 31-year-old singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer, entrepreneur, and fashion icon revealed that he knew that DinDin had been his fanboy.
Dara then asked G-Dragon if what he thought of DinDin. The BIGBANG leader replied, “I watch him often on TV, so he’s a celebrity to me.” That’s all DinDin needed to hear to make him fluster like a little school girl.
Kim Soon then told G-Dragon about DinDin’s earlier remarks about not wanting to meet him because he likes him so much. The “King of K-pop” replied, “He can’t meet me because he likes me? Then, I’ll remain that way as well.” But DinDin suddenly had a change of heart and now wants to meet his idol. “Hyung! Let’s not remain that way. Hyung!” he begged.
After the broadcast, DinDin couldn’t contain himself and shared clips of his phone call with G-Dragon. He captioned it: “My hyung… I now understand my fans’ feelings. Sorry, thank you, I love you. ‘Video Star’ is the best! Dara noona, I love you!” He then added in the hashtags, “I’m a celebrity acknowledged by G-Dragon hyung.”
