Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are set to say they “I dos” at St James’s Palace on May 29. Since the Princess of York and Prince Harry are very close, the Duke of Sussex is expected to attend the upcoming nuptials of his cousin.
However, a new report claims that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may not be attending Princess Beatrice’s wedding. Royal expert Angela Mollard shared that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could kick up "the most tremendous stink" on the bride-to-be’s big day.
“I think the Commonwealth meeting is very important obviously because that’s the role the Queen gave them as Commonwealth youth ambassadors,” she said in New Idea’s ROYALS podcast. “It will be interesting to see if they come back for that. If they don’t come back for Beatrice’s wedding I think it will be the most tremendous stink. It will just be seen as an absolutely massive snub to the Royal Family and would suggest that they absolutely put their own needs ahead of other royalty.”
Angela Mollard pointed out that Princess Beatrice attended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding back in 2018, so it only makes sense that the Duke of Sussex would be present on her special day as well. Co-host Zoe Burrell commented that “I wouldn’t want to miss out on it if I was them.” But then the royal expert said that “They do want to miss out on it. They don’t want to be part of that life.”
A friend of the Yorks previously claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could snub the nuptials because they are behaving like they are above the royal family rules.
“The trouble with Harry and Meghan is that they think they are bigger than the institution,” the friend said. “It’s such a shame things have turned out like this.”
When Princess Beatrice announced that she will be marrying property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in 2020, a lot of royal fans were very excited about the upcoming nuptials. However, the announcement was made back in September, where things were a lot different from the recent months.
Two months after the announcement, Princess Beatrice’s father Prince Andrew withdrew from royal life for “the foreseeable future” following a scandalous interview with BBC Newsnight, where his alleged involvement to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s scandal was discussed. And just last month, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they will be stepping down as senior royals to focus on their family and charities and to live a more “peaceful life.”
