Prince Edward received praises for his demeanor towards Meghan Markle and Prince Harry before the start of the Commonwealth Day service last Monday, March 9. Royal fans noticed that the Earl of Wessex was friendly towards the Sussexes, who have reportedly disappointed the rest of the royal family for their decision to step back from their royal roles.

According to Daily Mail, Prince Edward was dubbed the Prince of Diplomacy for chatting and giggling with Meghan as they waited for Queen Elizabeth to arrive. The two were seated next to each other, while Prince Harry and Sophie Wessex were beside their spouses.

Royal fans loved that Prince Edward showed good vibes. They also liked that he interacted animatedly with the Sussex royals.

Prince Edward also happily greeted Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as they arrived in Westminster Abbey. In contrast, the Cambridges were criticized for appearing to ignore the Sussexes.

Royal fans accused Prince William and Kate of giving Prince Harry and Meghan the cold shoulder. Some said that the encounter between the in-laws was too painful to watch and it further sparked speculations that the tension between the royal brothers is still there.

Body language experts said that there was a definite tension between Prince Harry and Prince William. Lip readers also tried to interpret what the royal brothers had to say to each other during their brief reunion.

Meanwhile, the day after the Commonwealth Day service, Prince Edward celebrated his 56th birthday. Queen Elizabeth led the tributes to her youngest son with an Instagram post of a Prince Edward's throwback photo from 1965.

The post was inundated with greetings for Prince Edward, as well as compliments for the photo of his young self. Royal fans said that they like Prince Edward for keeping a happy and solid nuclear family. He and Sophie have been married for 20 years and are raising two teenagers who have been shielded from the royal spotlight quite well.

As the Queen's youngest child, Prince Edward and his wife also represent the Queen and the Crown in a few royal engagements. The Earl and Countess of Wessex have also been taking on more duties since Prince Harry and Meghan's royal step back. Their children, however, are still too young to take such roles as Lady Louise is only 16 while James the Viscount Severn is barely a teenager at 12.
