The coronavirus has forced everyone into their homes, most idle and left with the challenge of something to do. That includes popular figures in the sporting world such as Luis Suarez of Barcelona FC. The 33-year-old striker has been out of action for a while now due to an injury but is pretty much keeping tabs on the news.

Suarez issue a call on Instagram, calling on everyone to do their part in this pandemic. He pointed out how little things could make a difference and encouraged everyone to cooperate with medical agencies and government institutions.

"Hello everyone, from my house in Barcelona I wanted to send you a big hug, to send a lot of strength to all the people who are fighting against a virus that has us all very concerned,” Suarez said. “We must know that it is up to ourselves to be able to improve the situation. If we take care of ourselves, we take care of the next door and the entire population. Thousands of people who are suffering from a virus that worries the world."

The football world was not spared from the coronavirus pandemic and claimed a 21-year-old Spanish coach. Francisco Santiago was the unfortunate victim while there are several other players who continue to fight the virus, Goal.com reported.

Suarez urged everyone to practice proper hygiene and stay indoors for now. He also shared how the cases are rising in Uruguay and the number of casualties has been reported daily.

The Barca striker is currently recovering a surgery after injuring his ankle. Before he was sidelined, the Uruguayan striker scored 14 goals in 23 games. If he stays the course, Suarez is speculated to be ready to return by May. But with the sporting world now on hold, it appears even his return to action may be delayed.

Suarez suffered an injury to the external meniscus of this right knee. Back in February, Suarez revealed that his recovery was on the right track. In fact, there was a chance he could return than the projected four-month estimate, FC Barcelona reported.

"During the operation, the doctor saw that my injury was a little worse than expected. When he told me four months out, I was shocked because I didn't expect it, but immediately I started working on my recovery. I want to show that I can be back in less than four months, and when I watch the team play I want to get back and playing," Suarez said.
