Google just launched the "Works With Chromebook" badge to make it easier for its Chromebook users to identify which among the products available in the market are certified Chrome OS accessories.
Google, on Tuesday, officially introduced the "Works with Chromebook" badge to the public. The company further clarified that the badge is for the purpose of providing its customers with the convenience of knowing if their purchased accessories will work well with their devices.
Brands that Bear "Works With Chromebook" Badge
The software giant also mentioned big names of accessory manufacturers that will first bear the "Works with Chromebook" badge as proof that their products have been certified Chrome OS accessories. This puts the manufacturer's names in the list of safe products and accessories for Chromebook owners to buy.
Among the big accessory manufacturer names that Google stated to bear the "Works with Chromebook" badge are Anker, which currently boasted about the debut of its first-ever PowerPort Atom USB-C charger. Belkin, Kensington, Logitech were also part of the list of Chromebook partners as well as Targus, Startech, Satechi, Plugable, Hyper, Elecom, Cable Matters, Brydge, and AbleNet.
Kevin Ngo, the "Works with Chromebook" program manager said in a statement through a blog post that their team tested the accessories before putting the badge to ensure that they comply with Chromebook's compatibility standards. He further added that once the users see the badge, they can be sure that their purchased product works seamlessly with the users' Chromebook.
Where Will the "Works with Chromebook" Certification Appear?
US, Canada, and Japan are the first countries to have the first-hand experience of the "Works with Chromebook" certification. Products with the Google-issued badge are now available for purchase at Amazon, Walmart.com, Best Buy in the US, and Best Buy in Canada, as well as BIC Camera in Japan.
The software giant assured in a statement that the products tested for compatibility with Chromebook and given the certificate would soon be available in other countries. However, no specific date and name of the countries were officially released as of the moment.
The "Works with Chromebook" badge comes in the form of a small almost perfect square sticker. The sticker badge bears the signature Chrome logo in blue red yellow and green color with the phrase "Works with Chromebook" written underneath.
The "Works with Chromebook" badge can be found embellished at the upper right corner at the back of the box of the Google-tested and certified product.
