The fight against COVID-19 continues, and the people behind it need all the help they can get. Various institutions have done their part, offering money, goods and so on to come up with a cure and support the people carrying the fight. Microsoft has done its share but it appears another initiative is on the way.

With most folks holed up at home, there is nothing much to do. People who are part of the Microsoft Rewards can do their part by way of their accrued points. Microsoft plans to match every 1,000 points with a $1 donation to the Centers for Disease and Control Foundation. It is one of the latest efforts coming from the gaming community in trying to help out researchers and scientists to come up with a cure for the coronavirus, Game Rant reported.

The whole thing spurred from the efforts of several gamers such as Master Chef's actor Steve Downes. He donated his April proceeds from recording personal messages to Project C.U.R.E. It is one of the new and easy ways to contribute from people who are limited to their homes, some likely left with nothing but to play video games.

As far as garnering reward points, there are several ways Xbox users can go about it. One is for them to play new games and complete quests using the Xbox Game Pass. They can also opt to rent or purchase content via the Microsoft Movies & TV app or by shopping at the Microsoft Store.

The brainchild is a unique way to get people involved. Other companies like Nintendo are doing their part, donating supplies or money directly to support efforts. But the plan of Microsoft is different and something that could entice bored and idle people to get up and contribute in their little way. It may not be much but each point, in this case, may go a long way in helping find a solution to curb down the virus.

The whole world has been paralyzed by the COVID-19 pandemic and staying at home is the best most can do. Social distancing and proper hygiene are singled out as the best way to fight the dreaded strain but with most restricted to their homes. Some are getting restless with most trying to get acclimatized to their current predicament. Rather than pout, picking up that game controller, playing some games or watching some content is the best one can do in this time of crisis and helping out in the process.
