Princess Charlotte, the only daughter of the Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, could be the first royal to leave isolation in a few weeks. The five-year-old royal is set to return to school as the U.K. government announced its reopening following the coronavirus lockdown.

According to reports, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has given the go signal for some students to return to face-to-face instruction this June. However, this directive is good for reception, Year 1 and Year 6 students only.

Princess Charlotte falls under those who are allowed to be in school. However, Prince George, who is in Year 2, won't be able to go back to his physical school just yet as there is no order from the government.

"Our ambition is that secondary pupils facing exams next year will get at least some time with their teachers before the holidays," the prime minister said.  "We will shortly be setting out detailed guidance on how to make it work in schools and shops and on transport."

Princess Charlotte and her other brother have been homeschooling since the Cambridge family left London for Norfolk in the middle of March as the U.K. imposed a stay-at-home order. During a TV interview, Kate said that Prince George is actually quite upset because he prefers his sisters school projects better.

Kate also said that it's quite challenging to explain to her children why they have to keep homeschooling or can't see their friends physically during the lockdown. However, she said that the children's school, Thomas's Battersea in London, has been very supportive of their students' families.

The Cambridges have been trying to touch base with friends and family using digital technology when actual visits and large gatherings are currently discouraged. The Duchess of Cambridge said that, in some ways, they have more contact with the outside world during the lockdown than ever before because of video conferencing.

Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate revealed that Prince George recently started learning about World War II as the U.K. celebrated VE Day. Kate said that the third in line to throne must be honored to speak to an actual veteran of the war.

The young royal, who is turning seven in July, has also learned the lyrics to "We'll Meet Again," the wartime song, with his sister. According to Kate, this was a project set by their school and they have been learning the song over and over the past week.
