Sony confirmed at its recent earnings call that its next-generation gaming console is arriving on schedule. Fans have long been waiting for Sony to fully reveal the PS5, but the Japanese gaming giant has maintained its silence in regards to the event. Fortunately, a reputable game journalist has some interesting details about the full PS5 console event(s) of the company.
In the most recent report, Venture Beat's Jeff Grubb revealed that some information about the summer events that major gaming console makers are planning to hold. Whispers online claim that Sony is preparing for two major events in the summer of 2020. One is reportedly happening in June and the other in August.
Earlier, Grubb mentioned that Sony would hold an event on Jun 4, 2020. But, the tipster is now changing his tune and said that Sony is moving the target, and a strict timeline is hard to determine. In both events, Grubb noted that Sony would showcase both first-party and third-party next-generation titles.
Grubb said that the upcoming event would be a huge showcase on his official social media accounts. He also mentioned that some publishers, despite the huge PS5 event, might cancel on the event over their own events. Moreover, Grubb said that the next event would be the State of Play happening in Aug 2020.
Apart from those, Venture Beat's Grubb noted that more details about the PS5 console would be shared on various social channels throughout the month of August. Grubb's information is somewhat general. With just six months left on the arrival of Sony's next-generation console, the company has not shared any information about the official PS5 reveal.
Gamesradar first shared the report about the Jun 4 PS5 event in the first week of May 2020. The site picked up Grubb's post on Resetera. While Grubb's information could be right, but at this point, it is still a speculation. Sony has not yet officially revealed its plans aside from a holiday 2020 release window of its next-generation gaming console.
Meanwhile, Microsoft recently held the Inside Xbox event. The company said more Xbox Series X information would be revealed every month as part of its Xbox 20/20 initiative. Grubb said that the next Xbox Series X event might happen on Jun 9 or 10. This is in contrast to what Microsoft earlier said that the reveal of first-party Xbox Series X titles is happening in Jul 2020.
