The father-in-law of Princess Eugenie, reportedly, endured a nine-week battle against coronavirus. George Brooksbank's family was told to "prepare for the worst" many times while their patriarch was in the ICU as he was suffering from COVID-19.

Princess Eugenie's father-in-law, however, survived the disease and is now doing well at home. He lived to tell about his ordeal and thanked the NHS staff for saving his life.

According to Jack Brooksbank's dad, he was on a ventilator for five weeks and had to undergo a tracheotomy to improve. The elder Brooksbank said that he received incredible treatment and care from the NHS. He never felt that they were overwhelmed with treating many COVID-19 patients as the doctors and nurses have been professional all the way.

George shared that he contracted the virus after a trip to France. During the first few weeks of his hospitalization, his family was advised by the doctors to be prepared.

After his ordeal and hospital stay, his breathing is now back to normal even as he's still walking around assisted with a walking stick. Jack's mom also contracted coronavirus but she didn't suffer serious symptoms unlike her husband.

Princess Eugenie never shared any detail about her father-in-law's ordeal on social media. The York royal, however, still managed to do a lot of charity work and volunteering, along with Jack, despite what their family has been dealing with.

To help those affected by the coronavirus, Princess Eugenie and Jack volunteered to pack goods for vulnerable communities at the Salvation Army. Before that, Princess Eugenie and Jack also went around London delivering care packages for the NHS workers.

Since the U.K. went on a lockdown in the middle of March, Princess Eugenie and Jack have been staying at the Royal Lodge, the home of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. Princess Eugenie celebrated her birthday at the family home in March then she and Jack also had their milestone 10-year anniversary of being in a relationship in April. In early May, the couple celebrated Jack's birthday.

Princess Eugenie is the 10th in the line of succession to the British throne. She is the sixth grandchild of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. Though her parents, the Duke and Duchess of York, divorced when she was just six years old, Princess Eugenie and her sister, Princess Beatrice, were raised by both Prince Andrew and Fergie as they stayed in the same house.

At 12, the York princess had to have back surgery because of scoliosis. Princess Eugenie has titanium rods on her back but she made a full recovery and won't be needing further surgery. She proudly displayed her scoliosis scars on her wedding to Jack in October 2018 by wearing a lowcut dress.
