Queen Elizabeth loves to stay at Windsor Castle to unwind from her royal duties during the weekends. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, however, the Queen is staying in isolation at this palace indefinitely with Prince Philip and some 25 ghosts that, reportedly, inhabit the castle as well.

According to The Sun, Windsor Castle is actually the most haunted residence for Her Majesty. The Queen herself claimed that she saw the ghost of Queen Elizabeth I when she and Princess Margaret were younger.

Queen Elizabeth I, who reigned from 1558 to 1603, is apparently often spotted at the library and her footsteps can be clearly heard before she makes a ghostly appearance. Also prominently present at Windsor Castle is King George III, who reigned from 1738 to 1820. Apparently, his silhouette can be seen at the library as well, as this is where he stayed most of the time, especially during his period of depression and madness.

Windsor Castle is also the favorite house of King Henry VIII (1509 to 1547), the father of Queen Elizabeth I. His ghost is apparently still wandering at the castle, looking "despondent and agitated" and his leg could be heard "thudding" on the floor. As history books revealed, King Henry VIII ordered the beheading of two of his wives. His left leg suffered from varicose ulcer.

The ghost of the huntsman for King Richard III (1483 to 1485), allegedly, hangs around the Windsor Great Park. Witnesses said that the huntsman's figure is quite spooky. There is also a wandering spirit of a monk at Windsor Castle who died inside one of the cells following his punishment.

Every year, Queen Elizabeth stays at Windsor Castle for at least a month for the spring season, which is called the Easter Court. She also takes in formal duties and hosts politicians, VIPs and other public figures at this palace.

On March 19, Queen Elizabeth left for Buckingham Palace to stay in Windsor Castle, amid calls from the government to protect those of the vulnerable age as the coronavirus was spreading. The Queen is still in this castle and won't be moving to Balmoral for the summer to limit her movements, Buckingham Palace said.

There are at least 25 royal staff members working in Windsor Castle during this public health crisis. Usually, the Queen has around 100 staff serving her but the number of people had to be limited to lower the risk of virus transmission.
