Kanye West seemed to be serious in his intention to run for US President this year. However, long before he announced his plan, he already declared his desire to run for the highest office when he accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2015 Video Music Awards. Since then, the KarJenner family has been showing their support.

During his acceptance speech at the time, the 43-year-old rapper revealed he had decided to run for president in 2020. After two years, West tweeted that he would be "throwing his hat in the race for" this year's presidential election against Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

A source told Us Weekly that West had been planning about it for several years, and his wife, Kim Kardashian, knew about it. The television personality had, reportedly, known his "aspirations" and had been supportive.

So, since his 2015 declaration, the KarJenner family has been subtlely displaying their support. Kylie Jenner shared a "Kanye West for President" graphic at the time. Khloé Kardashian also tweeted Ye's name along with the American flag and a "Kanye for President" meme.

In 2016, Kim revealed she was pretty sure that her husband would run as a Democrat or an independent. Although she was not sure how serious he was at the time, the time had proved itself.

Last year, Khloé donned a "Kanye for President" baseball cap. This year, Kim shared West's tweet about his announcement to run for president, captioning it with an American flag.

In the fashion mogul's latest interview after his surprising announcement, he revealed he would run for president as an independent in November. He told Forbes that he no longer supports Trump and will organize his own campaign.

He said the country is a big mess right now under Trump's leadership. He also added that he didn't like the news that Trump hid in the bunker when the protesters, incited by the police killing of George Floyd, angrily gathered outside the White House's gates.

His slogan will be "Kanye West YES" under the banner, "Birthday Party." He would have run as a Republic if it weren't for Trump.

However, he still acknowledged that Trump was the closest president the US had in years that allowed God to be part of the conversation. West also revealed that it was God who said it's time for him to run for president after He gave him the clarity.
