Prince Harry and Prince William are brothers but their roles in the Royal Family make them differ from each other. The Duke of Cambridge is set to be a King, as the second heir to the throne. Although Meghan Markle's husband is also part of the succession, the sons of Prince Charles have different paths and were, reportedly, even treated differently.
Princess Diana had been open about her desire for the two princes to be equally treated by the palace. She and Prince Charles also wanted the Duke of Sussex to have as many opportunities like what his older brother has received. However, allegedly, some senior royals seemed to believe that they should never be treated in the same way.
In the Channel 5 documentary Prince Harry: The Troubled Prince, the rifts the royals had when they were still kids were revealed. Their parents were eager to make sure that they would share the same things. But, senior members of the Royal Family, reportedly, believed it was "nonsense."
Since Prince William is the future of the monarchy, they understand that all of their efforts shall go into educating him. He is the one who will often get an invite from Queen Elizabeth II for lessons in kingship.
Kate Middleton's husband, too, gets the chance to spend more time alone with his grandmother. Hence, they have "far closer bond" than that of Prince Harry.
The Queen Mother also, reportedly, treated Archie's father "drastically different." Just like Queen Elizabeth, she had a "much more personal relationship" with Prince William.
Royal biographer Angela Lewin revealed Queen Mother would always invite Prince William but not his younger brother. She, also, made sure that the father-of-three would be seated next to her, while Prince Harry would never get a prominent seat.
When she died, it was quite surprising that Queen Mother left Prince Harry more money than Prince William. By the looks of it, she knew that William would get more when he becomes a King.
Prince Harry, reportedly, knew that he would always be in the shadow of Prince William even at a young age. Although they would do anything for each other, they were, also, both aware that they had different roles in the Royal Family.
As kids, there were tensions between them that resulted in Prince Harry's surprising outburst, which seemed to suggest their future complicated relationship. When the family was going to Gloucester over 30 years ago, the two boys started to quarrel.
Ken Wharfe, a long-serving protection officer to the royals, overheard Prince Harry telling Prince William that he would be King one day and he wouldn't "so he could do what he liked." This statement, reportedly, made everyone surprised, even Princess Diana.
