The good news is Prince William and Harry are talking to each other. The bad news is their relationship hasn't improved much since their last face-to-face encounter at the Commonwealth Service in March.

According to Finding Freedom biographer Omid Scobie, Prince William and Harry continue to have a strained relationship. However, they did have a lot of conversations when their father, Prince Charles, was struck with coronavirus.

Scobie also said that a wall of silence does not exist between Prince William and Harry, suggesting that they are in touch and can speak freely to each other. Despite this situation, the brothers can't seem to mend their rift because "there's a lot of hurt" between them.

The biographer also said that Harry still feels his bond with his older brother is "unbreakable" so there's still hope for a full reconciliation. Scobie believes that their time apart might help with the healing as both brothers apparently do not want their children to suffer because of their rift.

Royal correspondent Phil Dampier confirmed that conversations between Prince William and Harry are "stilted and difficult" at the moment. The release of Finding Freedom might have contributed to the strain further, after reports came out stating that Prince William's wife, Kate Middleton, is upset with the book's details.

Finding Freedom exposed Prince Harry's dissatisfaction with his role as the spare to the heir. He also felt that the royal courtiers and the "gatekeepers of the institution" always favored Prince William since he is the future king.

The book also detailed that Prince Harry wanted to do more as a working royal with his wife, Meghan Markle. However, he felt that the senior staff clipped their wings because they don't like Meghan and treated her unfairly.

This dissatisfaction was a huge part of his decision to step back from the royal family. Apparently, Prince Harry and Meghan felt that they can do more outside of their royal life.

The biography also stated that Kate didn't do much to help the brothers reconcile. Her loyalty remained with her husband and she didn't make an effort to be close to Meghan.

A source from Prince William's camp said that the Duke of Cambridge thinks Finding Freedom is a calculated move to control the narrative. Apparently, the Sussex pair want to be seen in a favorable light to secure their entertainment contracts, according to Us Weekly.

Prince Harry and Meghan, however, claimed that they didn't collaborate with the authors. They denied having sat down with Scobie and co-author Carolyn Durand for the detailed stories in the book.
