While their secret wedding earlier in July was not as grand as the other royal weddings in history, the eldest York Princess has the most expensive engagement ring among all the British Royals. The Daily Express reported that a jewelry expert valued and analyzed the engagement rings of some of the members of the British Royal Family. Lorna Haddon, the head of diamonds and jewelry at Beaverbrooks, shared her analysis of York Princesses, the Duchess of Cambridge, and the Duchess of Sussex's rings.
In 2019, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, reportedly, "wowed" many royal fans and supporters when he proposed to Princess Beatrice with a "stunning" platinum diamond ring. Haddon said that the ring features a "large central diamond" that comes in "tapered baguette-cut diamonds" framing.
The expert noted that it has similarities to Queen Elizabeth's engagement ring, adding that it is a "classic choice" as it offers a "timeless finish." As for the price, she valued Princess Beatrice's ring at around $400,000.
Following the Princess of York's engagement ring, Kate Middleton's iconic sapphire ring, reportedly, places at the second spot in terms of the price. Lorna Haddon estimated the ring below $400,000.
Among all the royal brides, the Duchess of Cambridge's engagement ring has remained to be the most popular and iconic because of its royal roots. Reports noted that it once belonged to the late Princess Diana when she selected it for her wedding in 1981. The estimated cost of this ring during that year was $36,000, according to Cheat Sheet.
The expert stated that, aside from its history, the ring features a more modernized appearance considering that the center stone is not a diamond. Instead, it holds a 12-carat oval blue sapphire at the center of the 14 surrounding smaller solitaire diamonds.
Next to Kate Middleton is another cousin-in-law of Princess Beatrice. Haddon said that Meghan Markle's engagement ring costs around $160,000 to $200,000.
Prince Harry, reportedly, gifted the former actress with a classic gold band set that has "three dazzling diamonds." The central diamond has a much bigger size than the two brilliant-cut diamonds on the side.
The expert shared that it is a popular choice among couples today because of its traditional features that emphasize the central piece. In the case of the Duke of Sussex, he, reportedly, chose the ring to have three stones as it represents their "past, present, and future" together.
