Apple announced the release of major software versions, including iPadOS 14, tvOS 14, iOS 14, and watchOS 7, delivered as updates beginning September 16.

Apple CEO Tim Cook announced during the company's September "Time Flies" event that users can expect to receive most of its software versions as free updates starting September 16. These include the iPadOS 14, tvOS 14, iOS 14, and watchOS 7. Cook further said that the new updates include brand new features and modifications that all iOS device users would enjoy.

The announcement about the updates on iPadOS 14, tvOS 14, iOS 14, and watchOS 7 during Apple's September "Time Flies" event was among the biggest revelations the company made. The announcement came after Cook announced the launch of Apple Watch Series 6 and its cheaper counterpart, the Apple Watch SE, as well as the iPad Air 4 and iPad 8.

Cook also explained in detail during the September "Time Flies" event all the new features that iPadOS 14, tvOS 14, iOS 14, and watchOS 7 updates. In the case of the iOS 14, Cook said that the update features a modified Home screen that Apple users will see for the first time since it appeared on the first iPhone. The Apple CEO said that users will now have the ability to hide their installed apps on the Home screen and store them in the App Library. It also features a Compact UI, which renders all active interactions to occupy only a small space instead of taking over the entire screen, such as when a call comes in.

Users will also start seeing a new Siri with the updated versions of the iPadOS 14, tvOS 14, iOS 14, and watchOS 7 as announced by Cook during the September "Time Flies" event. He said that Apple engineers enhanced Siri Intelligence so it can better understand what the user wants and also remember questions during interactions. One example is when users ask Siri to "tell me a story," the assistant will "remember" it was telling you a story at an earlier time and will proceed to ask you if you would like to resume or start over.

In the case of watchOS 7, Cook said during the September "Time Flies" event that the updates, which include the iPadOS 14, tvOS 14, iOS 14 apart from the watchOS7 update, brings along a host of features that Apple believe will benefit many users. For instance, the new software version adds a handwashing feature that detects if the user is washing hands. It can do this by simply hearing the sound of running water, which then activates a 20-second timer to make sure the user wash their hands as recommended by health authorities; a minor feature but very useful amid the pandemic.

There are many other features that the iPadOS 14, tvOS 14, iOS 14, and watchOS 7 updates bring. Cook made this very clear in his announcement during the the September "Time Flies" event. For more information, users can visit Apple's official site or just wait for the scheduled delivery of updates on September 16.
