Princess Eugenie received a thrilling news this week after she was told that a couple of baby koalas in Australia were named after her and her husband, Jack Brooksbank. The animals live in the safety of the Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park.

The York royal happily shared the news of their namesakes on her Instagram and joked that the koala named after her is "a bit cheeky." Princess Eugenie shared koala Eugenie's video, where the animal winks at the camera.

Eugenie and Jack -- the koalas -- were saved from the devastating bushfires in Australia in 2019. The York princess said that she and her husband are honored to share their names.

According to zoo director Chad Staples they picked to name the koalas after the royal couple because Eugenie and Jack massively supported the rescue initiatives during the bushfire. Staples also said that the royal couple would really like to visit Australia and see the rescued animals themselves but travel is still limited due to the pandemic.

During the lockdown, Princess Eugenie and Jack organized and participated in a lot of charitable endeavors. They were quarantined in Windsor at the Royal Lodge, the home of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, the Duke and Duchess of York, but Eugenie and Jack still managed to pack and deliver care gifts to frontliners and vulnerable families. At one point, they also got Prince Andrew and Sarah involved with their initiatives.

Princess Eugenie and Jack, however, have since returned to their London home at Ivy Cottage, where they have been seen out and about with friends Ellie Goulding and Casper Jopling. The York royal was also spotted checking the stores in Notting Hill with a friend, while covering up with a face mask.

In the midst of the pandemic, the Brooksbank couple were quietly filled with concern as Jack's 71-year-old father contracted COVID-19 after his trip to France. George Brooksbank had to be in the hospital for more than nine weeks and stayed at the ICU while intubated for five weeks. The Brooksbank family were told that they need to prepare for the worst but, fortunately, Princess Eugenie's father-in-law pulled through and is now doing well in recovery.

Princess Eugenie and Jack have been married since October 2018 but together as couples for over a decade. Royal fans are eager for some baby news but, for now, their only babies are likely just the koalas that bear their names.
