Former Trump adviser and right-wing pundit Steve Bannon's Twitter account was suspended after he called for the execution of Dr. Anthony Fauci and Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Christopher Wray in his online talk show, Thursday.

Bannon commented on his War Room podcast that Fauci and Wray should have their "heads on pikes."

YouTube took down the video for breaching its rules against inciting violence but had not suspended Bannon's channel as of Thursday night.

The company will continue to be vigilant as it enforces its policies in the U.S. post-election period, a representative from YouTube said.

"I would actually like to go back to the old times of Tudor England, I'd put the heads on pikes... and put them at the two corners of the White House as a warning to federal bureaucrats," TechCrunch quoted Bannon as saying.

Twitter confirmed that it has "permanently suspended" Bannon's account for violating its policy against glorifying violence.

The former White House chief strategist first suggested that Fauci and Wray should be terminated from their position until he took it further. He also suggested that the violence against Fauci and Wray could be part of a "civil war."

He can still appeal the suspension but unless Twitter changes its decision, he is restricted from using the platform.

The video elicited widespread criticism, including from Anthony Scaramucci, Bannon's former White House colleague.

"I'm not Steve Bannon, I'm not trying to... incite violence against the directors of the FBI and NIAID," Forbes quoted Scaramucci as saying on Twitter.

"I'm not going to share the video, but Steve Bannon called for the beheading of Dr. Fauci and FBI Director Chris Wray," Jon Favreau tweeted.

Bannon entered a not guilty plea to charges in August that he duped contributors to a border-wall crowdfunding campaign.

Trump has repeatedly said late in his campaign that he was not pleased with the jobs Fauci and Wray were doing and suggested the two would get the boot if he wins in the elections.
