Some 42 Foodpanda riders found themselves converging at a narrow street in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City in the Philippines earlier this week - each delivering a box of chicken fillet to a 7-year-old girl.

The girl had phoned in an order for one box of chicken fillet - and was shocked to see so many men in pink uniforms on motorbikes outside her gate.

Instead of just tapping the app once she confirmed several times thinking her order hadn't been transmitted because the internet was very slow, SunStar Cebu reported.

Each box of chicken fillet contains rice and french fries and costs 189 Philippine pesos ($3.93). Her 42 meals came to almost PHP8,000.

The girl's parents left her a cellphone before they went to work so she could order food online for herself and her grandmother.

A neighbor narrated the incident on his Facebook Live. The neighbor said some of the riders brought two or three orders to the girl's residence. The intermittent internet connection caused the glitch in the Foodpanda app, he said.

"What happened was the girl continued tapping on the app - unaware that there was already an error in the system," the neighbor said.

Foodpanda is a popular mobile food delivery company. Nevertheless, the arrival of so many riders caused a commotion in the neighborhood, SSCebu added.

So many riders outside the house scared the girl and made her cry - especially the PHP8,000 bill.

The girl's neighbors helped by buying boxes from the riders. However, some of them left empty-handed.

Foodpanda management had no comment.
