The twin nieces of Princess Diana, Lady Amelia, and Lady Eliza Spencer have recently shared some anecdotes about the Princess of Wales in their first-ever joint interview.

Amelia and Eliza, the 28-year-old daughters of Princess Diana's brother, Earl Charles Spencer, have been featured in the March issue of Tatler magazine. While the girls were only five years old when Diana died, they could remember that Prince William and Prince Harry's mother was an "incredibly warm, maternal and loving" woman.

Eliza recalled when their aunt tried to protect them when photographers followed the family during their trip to the beach. Diana, who was hounded by the press and was always in the news, made evading the paparazzi into a fun game so that the girls wouldn't be scared of strangers trying to invade their privacy.

Diana apparently initiated a race with the twins on who could get back to their car first. Eliza said that they had no idea that their aunt was making sure they were safe. She confessed that she and her twin only realized the "enormity" of losing Diana, especially for their father, when they got older.

The Spencer twins spent their growing up years in South Africa, while they had summers or Christmas holidays in Althorp, the family's ancient home in the United Kingdom. Amelia and Eliza were not exposed to what was really going on with the British royal family. Eliza said that they simply regarded Diana as their aunt.

Diana grew up in Althorp, while Amelia and Eliza lived there until they were of school age. Earl Spencer wanted the majestic home to be the wedding venue for Amelia's wedding to Greg Mallett. The couple announced their engagement in the summer of 2020 after 11 years of being together.

But Amelia said that most of their friends are in Cape Town, there the Spencer twins grew up. So, there's a bigger possibility for Greg and her to celebrate the wedding there than in the United Kingdom.

Whenever Harry and William are in Cape Town, they would make it a point to visit their Spencer cousins. Harry was particularly invested in including his mother's side of the family during the rites and program of his wedding to Meghan Markle.

Amelia and Eliza have an older sister, Kitty. The three young Spencer women, who are both below the age of 30, have been described as blond bombshells from an aristocratic family with a jet setting social life and very busy Instagram feeds.

According to Daily Mail, Kitty, who works as a model, often documents her parties and travels abroad. Her photos show that she enjoys her time in the limelight, which is in stark contrast to her aunt's aversion to the media.

The twins, on the other hand, are more careful about what they share online, especially after Amelia's controversial police booking in 2011. Reports cited that she almost missed the wedding of her cousin, Prince William, to Kate Middleton because she was facing charges of physical violence against a man during a late-night party in Cape Town.
