TWICE has become one of the most successful all-female K-pop groups in the world. With their latest achievements, it is not surprising why they continue to expand their reach across the globe.
Soompi reported that the nine K-pop stars hit a new milestone in their career. On Tuesday, one of the group's most famous tracks obtained over 500 million views on YouTube.
As explained, "Likey" reached half a billion views before the said day ended. It became the K-pop stars' second music video to obtain the same number of views after "TT."
The nine-member group released "Likey" on Oct. 30, 2017. It took them about three years and three months to achieve the milestone.
To mark the new achievement, TWICE announced it, as well, on their official Twitter account. UPI reported that the group celebrated, along with their fans, through the social media post.
Apart from mentioning their fandom, ONCE, the K-pop stars, also, included the official music video of "Likey" in the tweet. Several fans and followers, later on, shared their support and adoration for the group in the comment section.
"Likey" is one of the tracks that the nine artists released via their debut studio album, Twicetagram. Although it took a while before they followed it with a new collection of tracks, they released their second album, Eyes Wide Open, in October.
TWICE talked about their latest track collection in a virtual interview with Grammy.com earlier in January. However, the interaction missed one of the vocalists, Jeongyeon, due to health reasons.
Despite this, the publication said that the album has since signaled the K-pop group's success around the globe. Upon its release, it immediately charted on the Billboard 200 and even peaked at the second spot in the U.S. World Albums chart.
Eyes Wide Open houses a total of 13 tracks, which, reportedly, showcased the nine-member group's peak. As added, the latest album has become a "testament" to their overall "growth, artistry, and versatility."
The success of the album seemingly continued to materialize these past few weeks. As it happened, TWICE has been nominated for various award categories for the upcoming Dabeme Music Awards 2021.
Kpopstarz said that the awarding ceremony will "determine the best artists, music, and releases" of 2020 in a total of 11 categories, and four of which might be won over by the nine-member K-pop group.
The categories include Artist of The Year, Song of The Year, Favorite Female Group, and Album of The Year. So far, Twice might get the chance to take home the Artist of The Year award as they continue to stay ahead of the votes.
