The Indonesian Navy has released a video of the crew of the Nanggala singing farewell onboard the submarine, just weeks before it sunk off the coast of Bali.
The crew was singing an Indonesian hit called "Sampai Jumpa" (see you later). Heri Oktavian, the commander of the ill-fated KRI Nanggala-402, is among those gathered around a sailor strumming an acoustic guitar, BBC reported Tuesday.
"Even though I'm not ready to be missing you, I'm not ready to live without you," the crew sang in the poignant rendition of the song. "I wish all the best for you."
The recording was made as a farewell for the navy's submarine corps outgoing commander, military representative Djawara Whimbo told Agence France-Presse.
Officials confirmed Sunday that the KRI Nanggala had been found -- the submarine's stern, hull and main frame were separated on the sea bed.
A remote-controlled underwater robot equipped with cameras documented the wreckage at a depth of around 2,750 feet, Indonesian Navy chief of staff, Adm. Yudo Margono, said.
"All of us Indonesians express our deep sorrow over this tragedy, especially to the families of the submarine crew," Indonesian President Joko Widodo said on Sunday.
Grieving relatives gathered Monday on the seashore in Bali to pay their respects to those who died, and called on the government to bring up their bodies from the depths.
"We have already given our son to the government," said Wayan Darmanta, whose nephew Gede Kartika was among those who died.
Lifting the ill-fated submarine to the surface from the ocean floor will be a daunting task that will require specialised salvage equipment, authorities said.
Widodo has described the Nanggala's crew as Indonesia's "best patriots" and pledged government funding for the education of their children, BBC said.
