Wedding bells will be ringing this summer for New Zealand's prime minister.
Jacinda Ardern plans to tie the knot with her longtime partner, but did not disclose the date, Business Mirror reported on Thursday.
During an interview on the Coast Radio breakfast show Wednesday, the prime minister said she and Clarke Gayford have finally picked a date for their wedding.
"That doesn't mean we've told anyone yet," Ardern said in the radio interview, "so I feel like we should probably put some invites out."
Ardern, 40, and Gayford, 44, got engaged over the Easter holidays in 2019. Their daughter, Neve, turns three next month.
Ardern had previously joked about the awkwardness of his partner's proposal on top of a hill in the coastal town of Mahia.
The couple have been together since 2012.
New Zealand's highest official, whose leadership and empathy are admired around the world, also joked that she feels "a bit too old to have a bridal party."
Last year, Gayford told the New Zealand website Stuff that plans for the wedding had fallen by the wayside as New Zealand's pandemic response became top priority.
Ardern in 2018 became just the second elected world leader in modern history to give birth while holding office, according to the Associated Press.
