Peter Morgan, the creator of the popular royal drama series The Crown, is said to be struck with a "sense of duty" in propertly telling the story for the upcoming season as he doesn't want to bring more pain for Prince William and Prince Harry.

Reports cited that Morgan has been very conscious of his responsibility towards the sons of Princess Diana. Edith Bowman, who hosts The Crown podcast, said that Morgan believes that William and Harry have been through so much pain when they lost their mother at a young age.

The statement, however, differs from Morgan's earlier pronouncements that The Crown is a work of fiction and should not be taken as the truth after viewers called out Netflix to put a disclaimer on the show in season 4. Even Harry said, in an interview with James Corden, that The Crown is fictional but it gives the public some ideas of royal life.

Morgan also decided to extend the show to six seasons after earlier announcing that the show will end with five. Apparently, the final episodes will be a longer exposition into the death of the princess, which was supposed to culminate in the fifth season.

Meanwhile, the new episodes will also be delving into a very difficult period for the royal family with the separation and divorce of the queen's other children's marriages. According to Hello, the new season will also re-enact the infamous Panorama interview that sent ripples around the world, breaking the fairy tale life of the Prince and Princess of Wales. That Panorama interview was also the moment the world found out that the future king had been unfaithful in his 10-year marriage.

The Crown season 5 is set to start production in July and will be released on Netflix in late 2022. The new episodes will feature a different cast, which will be led by Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth and Elizabeth Debicki as Diana.

Sources said, however, that the real Queen Elizabeth will not like the new season because she will be depicted as one of the villains in Diana's life as a member of the royal family. Insiders said that Her Majesty watched the earlier seasons of the Netflix drama and gave it a thumbs up but she might not say the same for the fifth season as its theme will revolve around a touchy subject for the royal family.
