The success of "Squid Game" has renewed the interest in the survival drama "Alice in Borderland." As many have watched the show for having the same premise as Hwang Dong-hyuk series, everyone is now looking forward to seeing "Alice in Borderland" Season 2.

The recent Netflix Festival Japan 2021 gave major details about "Alice in Borderland" Season 2 for the first time since it was officially announced in December 2020. Here, it dropped the new season's official trailer, along with its much-awaited release date.

Though the preview did not give much detail about the events happening in the second season, it confirmed the show is now in the works. Meaning, it is now in the process of filming, Looper noted.

It also showed when the new installment would drop in the upper left corner of the screen during an interview with the lead stars Kento Yamazaki (Arisu) and Tao Tsuchiya ( Usagi). The text revealed the new season would be out in December 2022 with the word "zensekai," which meant "the whole world" in English.

By the looks of it, the release will not only be exclusively in Japan but in the whole wide world. So, what will happen in "Alice in Borderland" Season 2?

Season 1 ended with a new announcement that Arisu, Usagi and other surviving players of Tokyo's alternate reality needed to start the second round of deadly games to survive. It also revealed the person behind the so-called Game Master, Mira (Riisa Naka), per Radio Times.

She was one of the architects behind this whole macabre ordeal and she would continue to put Arisu, Usagi and the gang in danger. Arisu had already lost two of his closest friends, Chota (Yuki Morinaga) and Karube (Keita Machida), in the game.

Later, he found out he was playing alongside the traitors Momoka (Kina Yazaki) and Asahi (Mizuki Yoshida). With all the traumas he had been through, Arisu might find it hard to trust anyone in "Alice in Borderland" Season 2.

Anyhow, as he has Usagi by his side, he will surely have a huge support that he needs. As the show's first season adapted about half of Haro Aso's manga series, the second season may do the same and officially put its story to a close.

Anyhow, knowing Netflix is getting most of their original shows, it may find a way to give the series more seasons to continue its incredible saga. Are you excited to see "Alice in Borderland" Season 2?
