The developer of "Cyberpunk 2077," CD Projekt RED, wants to hold a livestream on Tuesday, but it looks the cat is already out of the bag: the PlayStation 5 version of the controversial RPG may be released on the same day. On the Xbox Series X|S, the game tile has already been identified as being optimized for current-gen consoles.

It's extremely doubtful that the Polish team will leave out or delay the PS5 version, therefore the upgraded version of "Cyberpunk 2077" will be likely available today. Furthermore, the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account has responded to the proof with a meme gif:

In November, CD Projekt announced that the new-gen versions of "Cyberpunk 2077" and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt were "on track" to hit their previously announced release dates.

The games' new-gen editions were supposed to come out last year, but in October, the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of both "Cyberpunk 2077" and "The Witcher 3" were pushed back to 2022, with the former expected in the first quarter and the latter in the second.

In an interview with Polish economic weekly Rzeczpospolita in November, CD Projekt president Adam Kiciski addressed the Cyberpunk delay.

"The decision to postpone the next-gen version of 'Cyberpunk 'was a difficult one, but we are confident that it was the right one, especially since it was clearly recommended by our development team," Kiciski said.

"We need the extra time to fine-tune the visuals and performance of the game to be as high quality as possible throughout the game."

When it made the announcement, CD Projekt RED didn't reveal any details about the livestream scheduled for tomorrow, but with the PS5 version slated for a Q1 2022 release and the recent discovery of new key art for the game, all indicators point to a quick release within the next 24 hours. Anyone who owns the last-gen version of the game will be able to get a free PS4 to PS5 upgrade. We expect the PS5 version's upgrades, such as increased frame rate and resolution, to be detailed in today's showcase.

The presentation will begin at 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm GMT / 4pm CET on Feb. 15.

In other news, after Lost Ark's massive launch, "Cyberpunk 2077" was just pushed down the ranks for most concurrently played titles on Steam by "Lost Ark." "Cyberpunk 2077" is one of only five games to reach one million concurrent users on Steam, and it is also one of the best-selling RPGs of all time.
