There are only a few days left for New Jersey residents to apply for a one-time stimulus check worth up to $4,000.
Officials announced the Excluded New Jerseyans Fund, a $40 million package aimed at assisting undocumented immigrants who have been affected by the COVID pandemic. Successful single candidates can receive up to $2,000, while families earning less than $55,000 can receive up to $4,000.
According to NJ.com, the deadline for applications is Feb. 28, and more than $9 million has been distributed to 4,000 people.
Approximately 500,000 people in New Jersey are ineligible for federal assistance.
Americans have been informed that if the $40 million is spent, the application process will be closed earlier. There are at least 13,900 applications still outstanding, with 530 cases denied. Concerns are growing that the plan will not be able to assist individuals who are unable to receive federal assistance.
The Excluded New Jerseyans Fund was announced for the first time in October of last year.
On Jan. 27, Governor Phil Murphy announced that officials had received more financing from the American Rescue Plan to help cover the plan's costs. Last month, only $6 million of the $40 million had been distributed to approximately 2,700 undocumented families.
Meanwhile, proposed legislation in Oregon might provide a stimulus boost to more than 250,000 Americans.
Previously, lawmakers considered sending up to $2,000 in stimulus payments to essential workers and $1,200 to unemployed citizens who returned to work. In January, it was believed to have been reduced to $1,000.
The payments have been cut again to $600 as part of a scheme that will cost the state $180 million.
According to Oregon Public Broadcasting, East Portland representative Andrea Valderrama, a chief sponsor of the bill, the idea has been scaled back since the previous amount would have made recipients eligible for federal taxation.
The new legislation allows eligible workers to get the full sum without having to worry about taxes. Workers are eligible if they applied for the earned income tax credit on their 2020 state taxes.
The deadline for California residents who owed up to $1,200 in stimulus payments was Feb. 15. During the pandemic, California has implemented two state stimulus programs for residents: Golden State Stimulus I and Golden State Stimulus II.
The first scheme provided qualifying residents with either $600 or $1,200, while the latter provided up to $1,100.
In addition, a new budget proposal might result in another wave of stimulus checks for California citizens. A state senator stated that the state's budget excess is sufficient to provide each inhabitant with an additional $1,100 payout. You may also be eligible to claim $5,000 in payments from the IRS when filing your tax return.
